Focus topic: Undercurrents for maritime operations in Asia

This month, we are taking a look at potential threats for commercial maritime operations in Asia. The region is characterised by an absence of significant maritime day-to-day threats. However, various political and strategic undercurrents might threaten this calm in the future. In this month’s and next month’s report, we provide an update on current areas of contention where potential conflicts are simmering: the Korean peninsula, the Taiwan Strait, and the South China Sea.

In addition, the report provides a brief update on the maritime implications of the war in Ukraine.
