The voyage risk assessment is a standardised, semi-quantitative assessment for a single voyage for a specific vessel or vessel type. The VRA is used as an operational preparation tool for a specific voyage or specific route.

The Voyage Risk Assessment, or VRA, is an essential operational preparation and planning tool, designed to assess the overall vessel and route risks and security needs.

It assesses the vessel, the route and the potential threats relevant to the planned journey. The VRA analyses both operational specifics, inherent in the nature of the trade and the operational status (trade patterns / routing, operational procedures, anchoring etc.), and those that are specific to the vessel (freeboard, self-protection measures, technical performance, crew training / awareness etc.)

Threats are assessed in light of any background factors or current developments, and a semi-quantitative assessment is produced with a strong focus on delivering an operational preparation product, enabling the client to take any precautions or external measures needed, such as armed guards or other security personnel.

Voyage Risk Assessments are produced at a standard price, but require client input and collection of detailed data and is therefore not an online available product.
