WHICH REPORTS DO YOU NEED FOR THE GULF OF GUINEA?

Choosing the right tools is essential to accurately assess the specific risk to your vessel given an existing threat in an area.

A Voyage Risk Assessment, VRA, gives a risk rating to a specific vessel in a specific area, whereas a Security Risk Assessment, SRA, provides much more detail to the surrounding area and is suitable for FSRU or offshore operations.

Voyage Risk Assessments

"PMSCs should only be deployed after a specific Voyage Risk Assessment has been carried out", said David Friesem to Safety at Sea for their article on the whether armed guards might not be the best risk mitigation solution for the Gulf of Guinea.

Risk Intelligence’s VRAs consider the specific risk to a vessel on a planned voyage, by analysing the current threat in relation to vessel specifics, mitigation measures, as well as the company risk appetite. It is essential preparation for West Africa operations.

Security Risk Assessments

A Security Risk Assessment is a comprehensive report used for decision-making, planning purposes and risk management. It includes a threat assessment and vulnerability assessment and provides much more detail on the surrounding area than the VRA.

Recommendations for risk mitigation are also included, which are to some extent specific to the vessel and/or operation in question. SRAs are suitable for FSRU or offshore operations.
