Risk Intelligence Senior Analyst Louis Borer shared his perspective at an FMSH forum on maritime violence.

The event took place on 9 December 2025 and was later published online on 2 February 2026 on Canal-U. It was organised by the French research institute FMSH and moderated by Le Monde journalist Élise Vincent.

During the discussion, Louis highlighted the impact of current geopolitical crises on civilian maritime trade, with particular focus on Ukraine, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and South China Sea. He also addressed the continuing threats of piracy and drug trafficking and emphasised the importance of raising awareness of maritime issues for economies. He noted how current and past crises can have direct or indirect effects on maritime trade and stressed the need to clearly define the areas and threats.
